Bev's Tramping Gear Hire, based in Te Anau, is the place to hire all your tramping/hiking and camping equipment. We can help you out if you are walking the Milford Track for the first time, or if you need to hire ice axe and crampons for big winter missions.

Bookings

We strongly recommend that you book ahead to hire hiking equipment for your trip into Fiordland. Booking is essential for all large orders over the NZ summer (between November and March).

To book simply:
  1. Send an email containing a list of what you require (including your sizes) to who will check availability. You can also save time by letting us know your prefered payment method.
  2. Pay the deposit by:

    If you happen to live in Te Anau, just pop over with cash and we will get you all sorted out!

  3. Bev will check our stock and send you an invoice for the gear deposit. Once we have received your payment we will send you a confirmation that we have reserved the equipment for you!

For the Record

We can send gear nationwide (NZ), but prefer pickups from our shop in Te Anau to ensure proper fitting.

You can take gear away and arrange for it to be sent back to our shop.

We can store your vehicle or gear at no additional cost when we have enough space.

Cash is the preferred method of payment, we don't have an eftpos machine and there is a 5% surcharge on credit card payments.

When hiring equipment we require a deposit such as a passport or a credit card imprint.

There are no refunds later than one week before departure, unless DOC closes the track.

Bev and the crew in Te Anau have extensive tramping experience, having tramped all around New Zealand and especially within Fiordland for decades.
